Hold the power button, look through the eyepiece and turn the focus ring until the picture is sharp. In daylight you get full color.
At dusk, switch on the 850nm illuminator. The picture goes black and white and the field lights up, out to 200–300 m by the manufacturer's rating.
Use the 6X optical zoom, then up to 8X digital, to make out what it is. Press record for 2.5K video or take a 40MP photo, saved to the micro SD card.
